PMI and WCCC, a part of the Maine Community College System, are thrilled to welcome our newest, largest group of students into the statewide Patient Services Representative training program! This 2-phase, comprehensive program is supported by the Maine Jobs & Recovery Plan, and the Harold Alfond Center for the Advancement of Maine’s Workforce, and is currently offered at no cost to Maine residents who qualify.
The PSR program was created to provide basic to advanced skills development pathways for Maine workers presently employed within the healthcare industry, medical practice, community clinic, or hospital setting, or for those who aspire to turn this exceptional training opportunity into a rewarding and lifelong career in healthcare.
A Patient Services Representative serves as the first point of contact for patients when they enter a medical facility. The position is as important as any within the healthcare setting. The program consists of 15 modules and two proficiency assessments. After completing the program, students will be proficient in many areas needed to contribute as valuable members of a medical office team. Students will come away with a comprehensive exposure to and understanding of the more intricate subject areas faced throughout the workday. Here's what's covered:
PHASE 1
Module 1. The Basics of Healthcare
Module 2. Medical Office Receptionist Skills
Module 3. Medical Practice Front Desk Success
Module 4. Optimizing the Patient Experience
Module 5. Government Oversight, Regulations & Compliance
