Practice Management Institute (PMI) and Gastrologix have partnered to develop a Certified Medical Office Manager (CMOM)® certification specific to the specialty of Gastroenterology. This joint effort will provide affordable medical practice specific training and credentialing opportunities for the Gastrologix membership throughout the country.

Michael Moore, Vice President of Business Development, said Gastrologix chose PMI to advance the education of members by providing resources and industry experts to create a standard of excellence nationally. He acknowledges the value and importance of providing partner-hosted educational opportunities.

“Our organizations share a common mission to help medical office personnel stay on top of the latest industry changes, trends and solutions. In addition, we know the value and importance of the kind of educational opportunities encouraged by Gastrologix, and remain steadfast behind the commitment hey have to the success of those they serve," Moore said.

The partnership commences with access to weekly abbreviated web-based sessions, the establishment of lengthier quarterly sessions geared to enhanced knowledge and skillset among providers and staff, and the creation of an administrative certification specific to the specialty.

Gastrologix is the only Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) in the U.S. working strictly with independent gastroenterologists to lower costs, operate more efficiently and expand services, so that GI physicians can remain independent and continue to provide a valuable alternative to the more expensive care provided in hospitals.

Since 1983, Practice Management Institute has been a trusted training resource for medical office teams. New and experienced professionals learn current guidelines and best practices to perform more effectively in their jobs. Providers and consultants involved in the business side of outpatient services also attend to learn best practices, and the practical application of government and legal requirements.

Live and online classes are available year-round, taught by instructors with direct experience in health care administration. These knowledgeable, approachable professionals have a natural talent for conveying complex information in a down-to-earth way for better learning retention. Course materials are updated regularly to follow current legal requirements and government guidelines.
